The first time you looked me in the eyes,
I could not hold your gaze,
The insecurity of that intimate connection,
Froze all but my darting eyes.
The power you held when you locked in,
the insurmountable discomfort,
Pushed my looks away,
Scared my eyes away after only 10 seconds.
As days have turned to weeks, and then to months,
10 seconds have become 20, and then 30.
Discomfort to curiosity to intrigue,
Flirtatiously playing with emotional fire.
A moments glance has become an endearing gaze,
Your eyes have become my favorite show,
The changes in emotion that is displayed in each of us,
The mood as they shift colors, shows in your very eyes.
20 seconds has become 2...maybe 3 minutes..
Playing chicken, with our eyes....with our hearts
Now every time you look me in the eyes,
I cannot... I'm unwilling...to break your gaze.
