With so much to say,
They can't see us,
The way I do,
The way you do.
It's too easy to write it off,
To go with conventional thought,
Life is filled with societal expectations,
They are not mine,
They are not yours.
So many words can be heard in the shadows,
Weird,
Wrong,
Unnatural,
Inappropriate.
So many opinions,
So many beliefs,
So many thoughts,
I do not have them,
You do not have them.
There's only one reason,
Only one doubt,
There's only one critique,
It is not mine,
It may sometimes be yours.
Life should be measured in moments,
Not by years,
The quality of experiences not the quantity,
The quality of mine,
The quality of yours.
This will create struggles,
This will create doubts,
This will create questions,
I know they are mine,
I know they are yours.
The number of years that separate,
Are seemingly great by the numbers,
The emotions that validate this,
These are mine,
These are yours.
So when the questions start to come,
When the doubts creep in,
When the naysayers chime in,
There is only one answer,
One sentiment to share.
THIS is not yours,
THIS is ours.
So what is the problem?
So why do you care?
What if this was yours?
What is the difference?
The difference is simple,
It is not an answer based on arithmetic,
It is pure qualitative data,
The difference is honest, pure, and straight forward...
THIS is ours...
THIS is not yours...
There is no difference
